Kitchen Table Studios is a concept that has been a major part of my making process for my whole life.

At the moment I'm concentrating on my textile jewelry, and here you will be able to see it before it is in shops or available on-line.

As much as I would like a studio of my own...and one day I hope I have one, for now, it's the kitchen table. The annoying part of working where inevitably you have to pack up before mealtimes has informed the very nature and scale of the projects I make.

Phew...It's hot

Just got back from a very excellent time in Geelong, meeting new people, and happily selling some of my wares. Thank-you!
Just letting anyone interested, that t.he online shops are a little bare of hand-painted crockery now. Not too sure if I'm continuing with that as a thing, but rather spending more time on the jewelry.

available at my bigcartel
I've just established my own little venue to sell things, most of my things are on Etsy still, but as things expire over there I think I will be doing my own shop...but, I don't have much extra stock at the moment and I'm experimenting with big cartel, so at the moment it looks a bit plain and I've got a bit of work to do.

Rafia

I'm pretty excited about this little experiment, I got wind of Sophie Digard using rafia for a new range of summer accessories, and thought I might have a go at it myself...keeping in mind I have absolutely no idea of what her new stuff looks like. Any way, I'm not too sure of this, only that I find it interesting....and really fun to do.

new knitwear...maybe for a boy?

Well, This is number 3. My mannequin form is not doing this one justice. But it is a very soft, and light little jumper, perfect for a cool spring day. Quite nice on a little chappie with a t shirt and a pair of corduroys. Hand spun by me. It is Alpaca and spun cotton fabric, with a little wooden toggle.

Finished vest....bring on the sugar plum

Yay, it's finished!
I hand spun and sewed all these bits together to make this.
It's made from Merino wool I got in Drysdale Vic, vintage sequins and buttons. It would fit a 1-2ish year old girl, great with a stripey t-shirt and jeans...mmm I wish I was little enough to wear it.
I also had to make the little form under neath it. I was lying awake the other night, trying to figure out how to make something that wasn't spooky for a mannequin, I decided on the squishy pillow look...very formless and ambiguous. Phew, now I'm working on an alpaca vest that might suit a little boy.
So, I have decided to sell this on my etsy shop  go on...have a look.

New look

I"ve been noodling around with some lino tools and decided that I like this look a little bit more than the collage-y title I had before...I think it will go better with more things.

I will be putting my new brooches in at The Geelong Art Gallery in the next few days too.

I've also psyched myself up to re-launch my Etsy shop. I've got quite a lot of things left over from that market I did a while back, and the things are really nice, but they're not doing anything all wrapped up in boxes in my room are they? No, they're not. So stay tuned.....

A start

Well, this is my new thing. I've been making these brooches using all the gorgeous little scraps of fabric I've been collecting. The following brooches are for sale at The Briar Patch at The Wintergarden in Geelong, Vic, Australia

The following brooches are all handmade by me. They retail at about A$38. Most are Japanese silks.
